I got to know and attended this launching last minutes. Good show! We have six sense, Issac, Khalil Fong & Boys Like Girls in the show... free flow of soft drinks, beer, food, etc. Overall, NICE!! Khalil is great!

15-17 Jan 2010 Whaler Sailing - Back To Nature

This is a trip organized by MOTHS. We have been attracted by the the event name: Whaler Sailing XPDC at Outward Bound School - Lumut... of cause the only word we saw from the event name is "Sailing"..... nice, facing the sea, sitting there, sail........ of cause that is not the case.

The day before departure, we got a email from the course director, we will be rowing for 2 hours for the first day, 7 hours for the second day. We got a shock.. rowing? what?????? anyway, we decided to go with the flow, since already paid....

On the 15th itself, we wake up around 4am, gathered in Bandar Utama waiting for Ivan for car pool (thanks Ivan). We departed, and reached Lumut around 8am. When we reach there, we meet up with the director, he bring us walk around the school. Then back to the hall, then told us that they will confiscated our handphone and wallet, so that we can have a real back to nature trip. Of cause we started to mumbling, but....... nothing we can do... just do it lo...(of cause the ex-outward bound plp know about it lo...) then....briefing started:

1. We will be rowing alot.
2. We will be given some food, and we have to plan our food so that we can
survived the 3 days.
3. We have to cook for ourself.
4. No gas stove, only matches.... we have to collect the dry wood, and cook.
5. We have to do up our tent.
6. Only well water to use.

etc, etc, etc........ Me and Suzanne have a shock of our life. Why? Why on earth we wanna torture ourselves? We do camping before, but now, we think those are really luxury, they are plp do up our tent, cook for us, we just sit and eat only.... but anyway, we cant do anything, just 硬着头皮 continue lo.....

After all this shock we got, we continue to go collected all stuff, food to be used for 3 days, cos once we go out, there are no turning back. We have been given dry bag, repacked all our stuff, placed our bag in the room....(i wish i can stay in that room, but unfortunately, our bag have a better life than us..:-p) after we get ready, placed all stuff near the beach, we have to do a water confident exercise, all wore the life jacket, and go into the water... do circle, and play play in the water. Then next, we moved everything into the safety boat, which will be help us bring all stuff to the island, and help us if we get into trouble lo.

Then the trip started. We got into the boat, the instructor will teach us how to use the sail, how to row, etc. Here we go........ row row row your boat...... sound familiar? ha ha.... we are quite lucky, after we row for awhile, there are wind, we can use the sail.... sail abit, and row abit.... we used around 2 hours to reach Pangkor - Shawal Beach. Actually, it just opposite the school.....

It going to be dark soon, we separated into 3 group, some pick up fire wood, set up fire, some set up the tent, some getting check what food we been given, plan, and get ready to cook. First night, we have rice, baked bean and can sardine. Supper we have milo, and cracker. I got no appetite, i dont eat can food... so i didnt eat much, hungry yet..... no appetite... haiz..... not long, it already 11pm, we all decided to call it a night, cos we need to wake up at 5.30am, getting ready to pack up, cook for breakfast, packed lunch, and move to another island - Pulau Sembilan. I cant really sleep, cos very hot day, and too much snoring man around.... sooo... i just close my eyes, and waiting for sunrise.

The 16th, we all wake up, and it started to rain... we all just stay in the tent for awhile, luckily the rain stop quite fast, we quickly clean up, pack-up all things and ready to row again...

We row row, sail sail..... not long after it, i got stomach pain, wanna go toilet, but we just on the boat, I tell Ee Ee, then they decided to let me do it in the water, just jump down...... but so many plp in the boat waiting, i just cant let go... come back up, just try to tolerate with it.....at the end, I cant take it, then just nice, becos of no wind, and the weather turn bad, the safety boat decide to tow us to the island, if not, i dont think we can reach there before dark. there are toilet in the safety boat, i jump over, and go toilet..... what a relief!!!!!!!

We reach Pulau Sembilan around noon time. heard from the crew, this island formed by 9 small island, thats how they got the same. (Sembilan=Nine)
This is a very beautiful island, crystal clear water, surprise me... i dont know they are such a beautiful place in Pangkor.... After we got down all stuff, we just cant wait, jump into the water... and hang in there for fews hours... there goes all my sunblock, and how i get my burn on my legs.. pain......

So sorry that, we all hang out in the water, and others getting ready the tent, and food.... while we enjoying ourselves. Thanks ya!

Ohhhh! forgot to tell, there are a few wild boar, checking us out, looking for food. They chase them away, they come back after a few minutes.... they are ok, just hungry i guess. Instructor told us they are harmless... so, we just let them be....

Getting dark soon, we just go and bath at the well, and come back, getting ready for our dinner. Burger meat and bun, and thanks to Ivan, we got some tiny oyster for fried egg, and thanks to Li-Ann, we got some fresh fish.....

After dinner, we just lye down on the ground sheet, watching the star, there are so many star, and forgot to mention, we do see water star on the beach, blinking blinking, that is plankton..... after awhile, i cant stand the sleepiness, and went into the tent to sleep, the rest of the plp just sit there, and they do see many shooting star too....ohhhh.... not forgot to mention, the wild boar run thru our stuff, drink up all our milo.... ha ha!

17th, wake up at 5am, cos the captain sounded that we shud be moving cos the wind will change anytime soon. We got ready, pack up our tent, and have breakfast. Then, my stomach give me problem again. I need to go toilet.... just go to one part of the beach, dig a hole, do business facing the sand, and covered it after..... this is really a real back to nature trip.....

Because I worry about my stomach, I decided to stay with the safety boat, and suzanne company me... so sorry to all guys, we abandon u......

There are good wind for the whaler in the beginning, later on, no luck again. Safety boat tow all back to Lumut. There goes the end of the trip of sailing. after we reach, take out everything, washed it, and keep it back to the original place, then washed ourselves up, and go for lunch......and departed back to KL. Passed by Kuala Selangor, have a nice early dinner.. and THE END.

It was a full of surprise trip.

1. First time need to poo poo in the water, with so many plp watching.
2. First time learn how to do up tent
3. First time, survive with some biscuit and milo for 3 days.
4. First time, watching wild boar running around us, and we can just sit and do
nothing.
5. First time, know what whaler mean... rowing.

At first, I think this is an mission impossible. At last, after I have gone thru it, it actually nothing impossible..... I do enjoy the process....I survived! :-0
